Paramount Pictures is relying on nostalgia in 2020 with the release of numerous sequels and originals based on pop-culture staples; Top Gun: Maverick, Snake Eyes, Coming 2 America and the latest SpongeBob top the list. Sonic the Hedgehog recently underwent a facelift due to unforgiving backlash, but hopes to wrangle in casual fans of the classic Sega game hero. A Quiet Place Part II is the sequel to the surprisingly awesome genre freshman efforts of director John Krasinski. He premiered the original at SXSW in 2018, however, Paramount has decided to premiere The Lovebirds, a rom-com starring Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae at this year’s festival. Blake Lively is making her welcome return to the big screen this month in The Rhythm Section and we’ll be seeing Mark Wahlberg in the sci-fi thriller Infinite later in the summer.
