For original and deeply unsettling entertainment, you can't go wrong with A24. There are no straightforward films, nothing easily definable or categorized in neat slots. In this trailer for Lamb, the Beach Boys 1966 hit, God Only Knows is remixed with a bleating downbeat, adding a creepiness to the song I probably could have done without.

We all know what happens when man messes with the will of Higher Powers, and from this first trailer, director Valdimar Jóhannsson has given us much to chew on - maybe with a dollap of mint jelly.

Welcome to the family, Lamb. A childless couple in rural Iceland make an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature, in this dark and atmospheric folktale, the striking debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson. Icelandic folktale on top, Nordic livestock horror on bottom. In theaters October 8

MontiLee Stormer is a writer of horror, dark and urban fantasy. She’s also is a troublemaker, concocting acts of mayhem and despair for her own selfish pleasure. An avid movie watcher, she prefers horror but will see just about anything if you're buying. Poltergeist (1982) is her favorite movie and she actively hates The Shining (1980) due to its racism, misogyny, the butchering of the source material. She could host a TEDtalk on this single subject. Writing about herself in the third person is just a bonus.
